Dedicated halal counters are rare at Irish university canteens, and most don't offer certified halal meat. A few practical tips:
Ireland exports halal-certified beef and lamb worldwide, but mainstream supermarkets (Tesco, Dunnes, SuperValu) generally do not stock halal-labelled meat on their shelves in Ireland. Halal meat mainly comes from dedicated halal butchers and shops.
Department of Halal Certification Europe (DHCE): Irish-owned, accredited by the UAE's Emirates International Accreditation Centre, certifies food producers and abattoirs across Ireland and the UK.
Islamic Foundation of Ireland (IFI): based at the Dublin Mosque, has certified Irish meat exports since 1981, recognised by JAKIM (Malaysia) and MUIS (Singapore).
Note: restaurant-level halal status in Ireland is mostly self-declared by Muslim owners rather than independently certified, so it's always fine to simply ask.
